About Hyde Park in London

London is famous for its “green lungs”, some of which are originally owned by the monarchy and were mostly used as hunting areas, but nowadays opened to public.
Hyde Park is situated in central London and it is one of the largest in the city. It is part of the Royal Parks of London which also includes, among others, the Kensington Gardens, Regent’s Park and St. James’s Park. The park is split into two by the Serpentine, a lake of 28 acres. Because Hyde Park is connected with the Kensington Gardens, they are often thought to form one single park, but in 1728 Queen Caroline separated them. Hyde Park has a surface of 350 acres. One of the most important events that the park hosted was the Great Exhibition, in 1851.

The Crystal Palace was specially constructed for this event, but after the exhibition closed, it was moved to Sydenham Hill, in South London. Hyde Park is nowadays the venue for some famous rock concerts: the Live 8 string of benefit concerts took place here, Rolling Stones, Queen and Blur played here too.

Places of interest in the garden include a rose garden, the Speaker’s Corner, the beautiful Marble Arch and the Rotten Row (the former king’s private road). A nice place which people love is the oval fountain in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. The park also includes other memorials like the Holocaust Memorial and one for the victims of the 7/7 terrorist attacks. “The upside-down tree” is an interesting botanical curiosity you should see. As such, Hyde Park Hotels London are proud to welcome you in London and are wising you a pleasant stay. king albert park
